Introduction

The ĸ-SDSS Module

The ĸ-SDSS module focuses on the social side of policymaking, ensuring that the concerns, perspectives, and needs of communities and stakeholders involved in I-US plans are properly considered.

The ĸ-SDSS aims to improve social policy decisions in all steps of I-US development, from design, and planning, through development and, implementation, to updating.

The ĸ-SDSS allows users to observe how an I-US model evolves socially (e.g. how social stakeholders are satisfied or deceived by the results of a particular decision).

The technology used is inherently exploratory not predictive. The human user decides which measures to test, judge and use. The settings are limited to the social dimensions and the chosen I-U-S configuration.

The results are available to the k-SDSS users without a closed loop with the other modules of the ITRMP platform.

Social Perspective in I-US context

What does 'social perspective' mean?

Because the scope of ĸ-SDSS is about social questions, it is important to define what social means in I-US context.

In this framework, the social perspective derives its essence from the social policies, that is to promote employment, improve living and working conditions, provide adequate social protection and combat social exclusion.

Accordingly, the three guiding dimensions of ĸ-SDSS (and key observables in our simulations) are:

Each guiding dimension has been further elaborated in a number of key factors and relevant indicators.

You can consult our controlled vocabulary and thesaurus and domain specific ontology to enhance understanding of concepts, models, simulation results, and decision-making processes.

The ĸ-SDSS modelling system

The ĸ-SDSS system offers two complementary exploratory modelling and simulation machines:

The two types of modelling are independent.

In both cases, a system setting is required to define the baseline initial configuration. The more you are able to configure the system, the more consistency you will give to your explorations.

For this reason, we strongly recommend that you consult the Help and User’s Guide section and our suggestions before starting your simulation experiments.
