The Value Added Industry-Urban Symbiosis Index (VA-IUSI) was originally developed by Paolo Santinello, Anna Rodeghiero and Riccardo Pizzuti in the context of the EU-funded SYMSITES Project  (Santinello at Al., 2025).

The Value Added Industry-Urban Symbiosis Index (VA-IUSI) is an economic performance index similar to ISI, but also considers economic value-added aspects (like potential profit margins, market demand, cost savings).

This is a key socio-political analysis index. 

It is used in the k-SDSS Agent-based modelling.
