This refers to the connections between people and the collective attitudes that result in a well-functioning, close-knit society. There have been observations of connections between increased social capital and positive well-being, economic growth, and sustainability.

It includes the norms, trust and networks that enable participants to act together more effectively in pursuit of shared objectives.

Metrics include:

  • Trust Level Among Residents (the surveyed level of trust residents have in their neighbours).
  • Volunteer Rate (Percentage of the community that engages in volunteer activities).
