The Labour Industry-Urban Symbiosis Index (L-IUSI) was originally developed by Paolo Santinello, Anna Rodeghiero and Riccardo Pizzuti in the context of the EU-funded SYMSITES Project  (Santinello at Al., 2025).

The Labour Industry-Urban Symbiosis Index (L-IUSI) is a social/Labour performance index similar to ISI, but also considers labour-related aspects associated with handling each waste type (like work efficiency, skill needs, risk, fairness, social context). This is a key socio-political analysis index. 

It is used in the k-SDSS Agent-based modelling.
